Sprout ("we," "our," or "the app") is designed around a simple principle: we don't need your personal information to help you, so we don't collect it.
Sprout does not require you to create an account, provide an email address, or sign in. There is no login and no user profile stored on any server we control.
When you photograph a food, drink, product, or item, that photo is sent securely to Anthropic (the maker of Claude, the AI model that powers Sprout's assessments) in order to identify the item and generate guidance. This happens in real time for each scan.
We do not store your photos. They are used only to generate your answer and are not retained by Sprout after the response is returned. Anthropic processes the image to generate the response and does not use it to train its models. For more detail on how Anthropic handles data submitted via its API, see Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
Because Sprout has no accounts, we do not maintain a personal profile, scan history, or identifiable record tied to you on our servers.
Purchases within Sprout are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store's In-App Purchase system. Sprout does not receive, process, or store your payment card details — Apple handles this in accordance with its own privacy practices. Your purchase is tied to your Apple ID, which is how the app recognizes your unlocked status and enables "Restore Purchase" on a new device, without Sprout needing an account of its own.
We may use basic, aggregated, non-identifying analytics (such as app crash reports or general usage counts) to understand how the app is performing and improve it. This data is not linked to your identity.
Sprout is intended for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
